Former Grand Rapids Griffins forward Taro Hirose has signed a one-year deal in Germany with EHC Munchen, it was announced Friday.

Hirose spent the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign in the minors with AHL Grand Rapids, registering nine goals and 27 helpers in 54 regular-season contests. The Michigan State product has appeared in 60 NHL contests for Detroit, notching four goals and 16 assists. The move overseas could mark the end of the 28-year-old's NHL career.

Taro Hirose has signed with Munich Red Bull of the German League following five-plus seasons in the Detroit Red Wings organization, including five years with the Grand Rapids Griffins. Hirose, a playmaking left wing, ranks third all-time in assists (151) and sixth in points (201) in Griffins history.
