The series' occasional set-ups for elements of the main Lord of the Rings saga go a long way in establishing the world about to be lost in Sauron's machinations.

That said, having Sauron positioned as the lynchpin of "The Rings of Power" season 2 much, has also meant that some of our supporting ensemble members feel even more removed from the proceedings than they did last time around.

And though all of the plots are solid, The Rings of Power is doing too much. The show has to carefully spread out time, sometimes leaving a central character out of an episode entirely and ruining the momentum.

Middle-earth’s kingdoms have been poisoned by Sauron, and he’s more than willing to sit back and watch it all play out.
