A tropical system in the Caribbean Sea could develop as it moves northward into the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center says.

A tropical depression could form next week as an area of low pressure in the Caribbean moves toward the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center said Friday.

The National Hurricane Center is watching two tropical disturbances for potential development. In the central tropical Atlantic, forecasters are monitoring an area of unorganized scattered showers and thunderstorms in association with the remnants of Gordon.
